Sara Reese joined College Aid Services in April 2019 as a Senior Consultant. Sara is an integral part of our CAS team. She currently works with several remote verification clients to perform quality assurance and as a remote processor. She also uses her expertise to assist clients with customized solutions utilizing data analysis, reporting and compliance.
Sara began her financial aid career in 2005. She started as a Financial Aid Advisor and based on her ability to quickly grasp her financial aid responsibilities she was promoted quickly – ultimately becoming the Director of Financial Aid within 3 years. Based on her extended knowledge of compliance coupled with her Title IV experience she became an invaluable member of the Internal Audit team. As an auditor, Sara dives into all business processes in financial aid, student accounts, admissions and registrar that impact Title IV management.
When asked what advice she will give a new person starting in Financial Aid, Sara said: “Treat every student or parent you come into contact as you would want to have been treated. Take the extra time to explain to the student and parent.”
What Sara finds most rewarding of working in Higher Education is seeing struggling students graduate. “I still love graduation and seeing a student who struggled walk across the stage. One of my favorites was a young woman in a difficult situation walk across the stage four years later. Her joy and excitement made my job worth it every day.”
Sara joined College Aid Services to leverage her experience in order to help others be successful. She states, “I absolutely love working with CAS and the amazing professionals we get the pleasure to assist.”
Sara earned her Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Fort Hays State University and her Master of Science in Management from Trevecca Nazarene University.
