Chrystal Jefferson is a Senior Consultant that fits College Aid Services category of “funky-tech” consultants. She has the perfect mix of both functional and technical experience to assist clients in leveraging their technology with customized solutions that ensure compliance. Her expertise allows her to provide all types and levels of interim staffing roles – leadership to counselor or systems support.
Chrystal brings over 20 years of experience with financial aid operations, federal compliance reviews and audits, FSA fund reconciliation, and the maintenance of several financial aid systems. Following her various roles in financial aid offices for both private and public institutions, she began her consulting career. Her consulting career has provided her the opportunity to gain expertise in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions that have included serving as an instructor and worked on various projects that include financial aid, curriculum review, composition of custom courseware, and product testing for new releases. Chrystal has experience with various other software systems to include Banner, Colleague, PowerFAIDS, and Jenzabar. Her consulting experiences have enabled her to provide interim staffing services to financial aid offices at all levels, including leadership roles.
When asked what Chrystal finds most rewarding of working in Higher Education is seeing students graduate. “As a financial aid officer, I’ve listened, I’ve assisted, I’ve counseled, I’ve encouraged. I know the stories and the struggles of so many students that wanted to quit but, persisted in spite of it all. It always gratifies me to see students walk across the stage and accept their diploma. That’s why we do what we do.”
Chrystal recently joined the CAS team and has enjoyed meeting and connecting with the other members, as well as the commitment of the company to the well-being and development of each team member. While her time at CAS has been short, it has been enjoyable. She states, “I am optimistic and excited about a glowing future with CAS.”
Chrystal earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Southern University at New Orleans.
