Anafe Robinson is a Senior Consultant for College Aid Services. Anafe brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in financial aid and student services, with expertise in interpreting state and federal regulations, planning and managing budgets, development and implementation of policies and procedures, and supervision and training of personnel and technology management.
Throughout her financial aid career, Anafe has volunteered in several roles in the California Administration of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CASFAA) and California Community College of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CCCSFAAA), including President of CASFAA, Vice President of Federal Issues for both CASFAA and CCCSFAAA, and Chair of CASFAA High School Relations Committee. When asked about her most rewarding moments in financial aid, she responded with achievements from these associations, utilizing her roles to advocate and recommend legislation changes that best serve the needs of students and families. “It is rewarding when we make a significant impact to students while utilizing various tools and roles. I would have not been able attain my degree and be part of this wonderful profession if it wasn’t for financial aid.”
Anafe started in financial aid as a student employee and joined the team at her alma mater after graduation. Being involved and volunteering for these professional organizations gave her the opportunity to grow professionally, make friends and meet great colleagues, and expand into new opportunities. When asked what advise she would give to new financial aid administrators, she reflected on a speech she recently gave at a CASFAA conference: “I love this profession because it is a blessing to do work that makes a difference. Our work is important because we have a major impact on students’ lives, as well as our colleagues’ lives. We have a huge responsibility to make sure we get it right. We are not alone. I know I can call on my colleagues to always be there and be willing to help and provide guidance without hesitation. So for those of you who are new to financial aid, don’t worry, someone is always there to help.”
Anafe enjoys sharing her financial aid expertise as a Financial Aid Trainer for CASFAA and WASFAA and is a NASFAA Certified Financial Aid Administrator (FAAC), with several NASFAA credentials. She recently joined the College Aid Services team, providing her the opportunity to assist partner institutions with problem solving, business processes and procedures, research, and more. “Joining CAS is a great opportunity to work with peers and have the opportunity to work on a breadth of projects and be exposed to various challenges.”
Anafe earned her Associate of Arts from Pierce College and her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix.
