Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce the publication of Volume 4 of the 2024-2025 Federal Student Aid Handbook which provides guidance on how to request, disburse, manage, and report on the use of federal student aid funds.

Additionally, we have made the following edits to Volume 1: Student Eligibility:

  • Chapter 1: We corrected the Enrollment Status section to make clear that a student is no longer required to be enrolled at least half-time to be potentially eligible for additional Pell Grant funds in excess of 100 percent of the student’s Pell Grant Scheduled Award (also known as Year-Round Pell).
  • Chapter 2: We have added a brief discussion of how the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA) applies to determining which individuals are able to demonstrate eligible noncitizen statuses, for purposes of Title IV eligibility as a “qualified alien” under 8 U.S.C. § 1641(b).

The Federal Student Aid Handbook is posted digitally on Federal Student Aid’s Knowledge Center and consists of the Application and Verification Guide; nine numbered volumes; and appendices. Each time we post a volume, appendix, or errata, we will inform the community through an Electronic Announcement on the Knowledge Center.
