After a year filled with technological challenges, the Department of Education is taking steps to ensure that the upcoming FAFSA application rollout is successful with the release of the 2025-26 Student Aid Index (SAI) and Pell Grant Eligibility Guide. This document offers a comprehensive overview of how a student’s SAI and Pell Grant eligibility are calculated, including how factors such as the payroll tax allowance or family size will affect FAFSA outcomes.

The federal government has also made an effort to receive feedback on the 2025-26 FAFSA from stake holders across the education field using a Request for Information (RFI). The form is available online through the Federal Register’s website and the last day to submit comments will be September 13, 2024.

Administrators can access the 2025–26 Student Aid Index (SAI) and Pell Grant Eligibility Guide and Request for Information (RFI) Regarding Ways To Support the Successful Completion and Submission of the 2025-2026 FAFSA Form here.
