EDExpress 2025–26, Release 2.0

The U.S. Department of Education has released EDExpress for Windows 2025–26, Release 2.0. It is available in the Software and Other Tools area of the Knowledge Center website.

Key Enhancements in Release 2.0

  • Expanded Module Support: This release adds full functionality for the Pell Grant, Direct Loan, TEACH Grant, and Campus-Based modules, building upon the Global, Application Processing, and Packaging modules introduced in Release 1.0.
  • Adoption of COD XML Schema Version 5.0c: EDExpress now supports the COD Common Record XML Schema Version 5.0c, aligning with the 2025–26 award year requirements. This schema introduces a new complex element, consolidating several existing tags related to program information, and modifies certain COD edits to accommodate these changes.
  • Updated Report Layouts: Due to schema changes, layouts for the Pell Grant Year-to-Date Record, TEACH Grant Rebuild File, and Direct Loan Rebuild File have been updated. These changes are detailed in Volume 6, Section 6 of the 2025–26 COD Technical Reference.

Installation and Compatibility Notes

  • Prerequisites: Ensure Microsoft .NET Framework version 8.0 is installed before proceeding with the EDExpress installation.
  • Installation Guidance: Detailed instructions for installing EDExpress 2025–26, Release 2.0, including system requirements and setup procedures, are available in the Installation Guide.
