On June 29, the U.S. Department of Education will implement additional updates to the COD System for the 2025–26 award year. These enhancements aim to support processing for various federal student aid programs, including the Federal Pell Grant, Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant, TEACH Grant, Direct Loan, and Campus-Based programs.
Scheduled System Outage
To facilitate these updates, COD batch processing will be suspended from midnight to 11 a.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, June 29, 2025. During this period, users will be unable to submit or retrieve data from the COD website, including access to the COD Reports area. Records submitted via the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG) during the outage will be held and processed after 11 a.m. ET on the same day.
Key Enhancements
- Addition of 2026–27 Award Year Cycle for Campus-Based Programs: The Department will add the 2026–27 processing cycle to the COD System. All Campus-Based Program forms and instructions and Campus-Based processes will be updated in the COD System for the 2026–27 application year (and 2024–25 reporting year) and will become available to view and edit beginning on Aug. 1, 2025. For a summary of changes being made to the Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP), refer to the Electronic Announcement posted April 22, 2025.
- Addition of 2024 Calendar Year to Campus-Based XML Common Record Schema Processing: The Department will add the 2024 calendar year to the COD System for Federal Work-Study (FWS) wage reporting. They will continue to accept records using the 1.0b Schema for the new 2024 calendar year. For more information about the schema itself, refer to the Campus-Based XML schema posting and Volume 4 of the COD Technical Reference. Operational guidance about using the Campus-Based XML schema to report FWS earnings will be provided in a forthcoming announcement.
