Federal Student Aid (FSA) announced that they are resuming normal operations now that the federal government is funded. They released the following announcements:
- If you missed a deadline during the shutdown due to circumstances beyond your control, document it with the appropriate customer service contact center. FSA will work with you to make adjustments on a case-by-case basis.
- All FSA customer service contact centers are open, including those that were closed during the shutdown. You do not need to resend questions emailed since Oct. 1. FSA is answering questions in the order they were received.
- FSA is now working to publish guidance and operational information that is typically released on the Knowledge Center in October and November. Upcoming communications include:
- the Federal Register notice and Dear Colleague Letter for verification and acceptable documentation for the 2026–27 award year;
- the Federal Register notice for 2025–26 award year deadline dates; and
- additional guidance for Oversight Entities, which must submit Best Interest Determinations for the Prison Education Program.
