The U.S. Department of Education published a Federal Register notice seeking public comment on a proposed extension of its “Generic Clearance for the Collection of Qualitative Feedback on Agency Service Delivery.”
The request is part of the federal government’s ongoing effort to improve customer experience and evaluate how effectively Federal Student Aid (FSA) delivers services to students, borrowers, schools, and financial aid professionals. Under the generic clearance process, the Department can gather feedback through surveys, focus groups, usability testing, and other qualitative methods designed to identify service gaps and improve communication, systems, and support processes.
According to the notice, the feedback collected is intended for internal service improvement purposes rather than formal statistical analysis or policymaking. The Department is inviting stakeholders to comment on the proposed information collection, including the necessity of the collection, the accuracy of burden estimates, and ways to improve the quality and usefulness of the feedback process.
Interested persons are invited to submit comments on or before June 18, 2026.
