New EDExpress Service Releases Available for 2025–26 and 2026–27

The U.S. Department of Education has released new service updates for EDExpress for Windows 2025–26, Release 2.0 and EDExpress for Windows 2026–27, Release 2.0. The updates focus on correcting enrollment related fields, resolving known software issues, and improving overall system performance for financial aid offices.

The new service releases provide several important updates, including:

  • Both service releases update the Direct Loan module to either suppress (for 2025–26) or require (for 2026–27) reporting of the “Enrollment Status Effective Date” value as a disbursement-level data element.
  • The EDExpress 2026–27 service release also adds new enrollment status values for students who are on a leave of absence or have withdrawn.
  • Both service releases resolve software issues reported to and confirmed by the FPS Help Desk.

Bug Fixes

In the EDExpress 2026–27 service release, FSA have fixed the issues that were preventing users from:

  • printing user-defined letters using the SSN file option;
  • importing ISIR files generated prior to the implementation of the updated record layout in late April 2026;
  • originating Direct Loan records assigned a disbursement profile with a single disbursement and the “Are You a Special School?” option selected;
  • importing Credit Status Response (message class CRCS27OP) files if they contain Direct Loan PLUS records without a loan ID;
  • printing COD Common Record Response import edit reports; and
  • performing external exports of Direct Loan disbursement data.

The EDExpress 2025–26 service release resolves an issue causing Direct Loan records to reject during COD System processing due to an incorrect Country Code.
