FSA Releases Final 2027–28 FAFSA PDF Form, Form for Incarcerated Applicants, and Submission Summary Resources

Federal Student Aid (FSA) has released the final 2027–28 FAFSA PDF form, a separate version for incarcerated applicants, and FAFSA Submission Summary mock-ups. All are available in English and Spanish.

2027–28 FAFSA Form

Final PDF versions of the 2027–28 FAFSA forms are now available on StudentAid.gov in English and Spanish. However, FSA recommends applicants complete the FAFSA form online. It’s the fastest and easiest way to apply.

FAFSA Form for Incarcerated Applicants

Confined or incarcerated individuals must complete the FAFSA form to determine their eligibility for a Federal Pell Grant. They can complete the form using the online application or submit a printed copy of the FAFSA PDF designated for incarcerated applicants by mail to Federal Student Aid (FSA) for processing. The 2027–28 PDF Incarcerated Applicant FAFSA form is available in English and Spanish.

The FAFSA form designated for confined or incarcerated individuals is identical to the online form and the “regular” FAFSA PDF except it includes a statement identifying it as the version for incarcerated applicants and provides a separate mailing address for submission. This separate mailing address ensures the Department accounts for the special circumstances of incarcerated applicants and the security requirements of correctional facilities that may impact paper, printing, mailing, and writing tools.

2027–28 FAFSA Submission Summary

After FSA processes the FAFSA form, the student receives a FAFSA Submission Summary, which contains the responses provided on the FAFSA form and provides basic estimates of the student’s eligibility for federal student aid. Final mock-ups of the 2027–28 FAFSA Submission Summary are now available in English and Spanish. The mock-ups are provided as a resource to the community to use in staff training or financial aid presentations.

Additional Resources

FSA made the 2027–28 FAFSA Prototype and 2027–28 FAFSA Preview Presentation available in September 2026. Financial aid administrators, mentors, counselors, and others who support FAFSA completion efforts may use these as references for staff training, financial aid nights, and student advising sessions.
