Sean View

It is with great sadness that we inform the financial aid community about the passing of Sean View, a Senior Consultant at College Aid Services.

On August 25th, Sean View suffered two grand mal seizures while at home with his family. In the process of seizing, he fell and hit his head, resulting in a significant head injury. He was rushed into emergency brain surgery, however the brain trauma proved fatal. Sean Michael View passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2020 in Dallas, Texas surrounded by his wife Lora K. View and immediate family.

Sean was born in Syracuse, NY in 1980. He grew up in Syracuse and attended Ed Smith Elementary, Levi Middle School and graduated from William Nottingham High School in 1999. He was a varsity letter winner on the Soccer, Indoor Track and Golf teams and a CNY All Star Soccer player. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Information Management and Technology in 2003 and earned his MBA from Westminster College in 2011.

Sean started his financial aid career at Tomkins Cortland Community College in September 2003. Over his 17 years of experience in higher education, he worked at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Utah’s Westminster College, University of Rochester, Tarleton State and Parker University (both in Texas). In a recent interview, Sean stated that his most rewarding professional achievement was being elected to the Chair of Region 3 of the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association for 2005-2007. This achievement and the other valuable relationships assisted him throughout his financial aid career.

Sean and Lora were married in Waxahachie, Texas in 2013. They remained in Texas to raise their family and be close to Lora’s family. One of the greatest joys of their short lives together was in September of 2019 they officially adopted their son, Jaxon John View. It was a day of tremendous joy and celebration. Sean’s legacy will be passed on to Jaxon through the love and memories from his family members.

Lora and the children will need emotional as well as financial support during this time of healing. She was a stay-at-home mom and losing their only income will be a challenge to their family. A donation of any amount is very much appreciated.

Donations can be sent to Jaxon View’s special needs fund  through the family GoFundMe account.

We appreciate any support the financial aid community can provide to his son, Jaxon.
