FSA Posts Updated Reports to FSA Data Center

Federal Student Aid has released updated reports through the FSA Data Center, its centralized resource for federal student aid data and information.

The latest release includes updated data through June 30, 2026, across several areas of the federal student aid programs.

Updated reports include:

  • FAFSA® Application Volume
  • Federal Student Aid Portfolio
  • Direct Loan and Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Portfolio
  • Federal Pell Grant Program
  • Forgiveness and Discharge Programs
  • Income-Driven Repayment
  • Heightened Cash Monitoring
  • Institutional Nonpayment Rates

The updated data provide insight into federal student aid application and disbursement activity, the federal student loan portfolio, borrower repayment status, forgiveness and discharge activity, and institutional trends.

Of particular interest to institutions, FSA has updated its institutional nonpayment rate data, which provides information on Direct Loan borrowers who entered repayment between January 2020 and May 2025 and were more than 90 days delinquent. FSA emphasizes that these rates are not the same as official Cohort Default Rates, but they can provide institutions with additional information about borrower repayment outcomes.

The federal student loan portfolio now includes approximately 42.3 million recipients with more than $1.7 trillion in outstanding loans.

Institutions and other stakeholders can access the complete reports, supporting data, and additional information through the FSA Data Center.
