Brian Malone

Brian Malone joined College Aid Services in 2026 as a Senior Consultant, bringing more than 30 years of experience in higher education administration, including over 25 years in financial aid leadership. Throughout his career, he has helped colleges and universities strengthen financial aid operations, improve compliance, and enhance student service through effective leadership and technology.

Prior to joining College Aid Services, Brian spent 25 years at the University of New Mexico, including 13 years as Director of Financial Aid, where he oversaw the annual administration of more than $250 million in financial aid. During his tenure, he developed extensive expertise in Ellucian Banner, serving as the functional lead during the university’s Banner implementation and guiding the continued development and optimization of the system throughout his career.

Following his retirement from the University of New Mexico, Brian worked as an independent consultant, assisting public and private colleges, community colleges, and universities with Banner optimization, financial aid compliance, enrollment management strategies, operational efficiency, and staff development. At College Aid Services, he helps institutions leverage technology to improve business processes, strengthen compliance, and maximize the effectiveness of their financial aid operations.

Brian brings a practical, institution-centered perspective to every engagement, combining senior-level financial aid leadership with hands-on Banner experience to help schools solve operational challenges, strengthen compliance, and better support students.

Brian earned a bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Mexico.
