Joel Depue

Senior Consultant

Joel Depue

Joel joined College Aid Services in 2021 as a Senior Consultant to share his financial aid expertise with clients in training, compliance, and assessments. He is a PowerFAIDS “funky-tech” (functional and technical expert) that can manage software updates and prepare for annual aid processing.

Joel embarked on his higher education career in 2003, initially focusing on financial aid. However, his professional journey has encompassed broader areas, including enrollment management, making him well-equipped to assist institutions with enrollment flow and generating leads.

Before consulting, he served in director-level roles at 2-year and 4-year, private, for-profit, and not-for-profit institutions. As a consultant, he has served as Interim Director and in project consulting roles at 2-year and 4-year public institutions.

Throughout his career, Joel has demonstrated his commitment to the financial aid field, having worked in various roles dedicated to supporting students. One notable accomplishment was his position as an Executive Committee Member and Director of Financial Aid at The Art Institute of Fort Worth in 2014. In this role, Joel played a key part in establishing the institute as the top campus within the company, recognized for maintaining the lowest percentage of past-due disbursements and consistently achieving the highest percentage of new students who were fully packaged.

Prior to joining College Aid Services, Joel was the Director of Financial Aid at Parker College. During his stint at Parker, Joel managed over $90 million in Title IV and Private Loan disbursements each year. Joel was also nominated to the Board of Directors for TASFAA in 2018.

Joel’s invaluable functional and technical expertise in managing the delivery of aid while keeping in mind compliance and the student customer experience, is what makes him an asset to our clients.

Over his professional career, he has been a member of professional associations at the national (NASFAA), regional (SWASFAA), and state (TASFAA) level.

He holds an Associate of Applied Science in Business Management from North Lake College and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science in Business Administration from Tarleton State University.
