Director of Compliance

Sara Reese

Sara Reese is College Aid Services’ Director of Compliance. Sara plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our clients are able to navigate the complex landscape of regulatory requirements from the Department of Education.

In 2019, Sara joined College Aid Services as a Senior Consultant, leveraging her profound expertise in financial aid to provide clients with comprehensive support in data analysis, reporting, and compliance. Her extensive experience serves as a valuable asset to the College Aid Services team, enabling her to effectively assist clients with compliance, assessment, and verification services.

Sara’s journey in the field of financial aid began in 2005 as a Financial Aid Advisor. Demonstrating exceptional proficiency in her role, she swiftly climbed the ranks, ascending to the positions of Assistant Director of Financial Aid and eventually Director of Financial Aid within a remarkable three-year span.

In 2010, Sara joined Kaplan as a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist. Her exceptional skills led her to assume the position of Senior Field Auditor for Internal Audit in 2012. As a Senior Field Auditor, Sara diligently worked across all business processes impacting Title IV management, including financial aid, student accounts, admissions, and registrar functions. Her profound understanding of compliance, coupled with her extensive Title IV experience, solidified her invaluable contribution to the Internal Audit team, a role she held for nine years before transitioning to College Aid Services.

At College Aid Services, Sara expertly applies her knowledge to provide clients with tailored solutions through data analysis, reporting, and compliance strategies. She possesses comprehensive proficiency in all facets of financial aid processing, reconciliation, and reporting.

Additionally, Sara’s commitment to sharing knowledge extends to the College Aid Services Webinar Series, where she has developed and presented on a wide range of financial aid topics, including verification, student eligibility, developing policy and procedure manuals, and on creating a financial aid administrators’ toolkit for staff.

Sara holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Fort Hayes State University and a Master of Science in Management from Trevecca Nazarene University.

She has also earned various NASFAA credentials including Return of Title IV Funds and Verification.

Outside of her professional work, Sara volunteers extensively with the American Cancer Society. She volunteered with the American Cancer Society off and on throughout her life, but when she lost her mom to pancreatic cancer in 2013, her perspective changed, and she started taking on bigger roles and volunteer opportunities with the organization. Sara currently serves on the Event Leadership team for both the Palm Beach County Relay for Life and Palm Beach County Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events.
