Steven Smith

Steven joined College Aid Services in 2024 as a Consultant. With a career in financial aid starting in 2008, Steven has earned invaluable experience from working with both public and private universities across Florida and Georgia.

Steven’s journey in financial aid began as a Federal Work-study student in the Office of Financial Aid at Hillsborough Community College. He progressed to becoming a Financial Aid Administrator and later the Federal Program Coordinator at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). He has held various roles including Financial Aid Advisor/Client Services Supervisor at the University of South Florida, Financial Aid Debt Counselor at Morehouse School of Medicine in Georgia, and Federal Programs Coordinator and Interim Assistant Director at Morehouse College in Georgia. At Morehouse College, he was instrumental in developing the functional and technical aspects of the Banner system and managing private loans for the college. Most recently, Steven served as a Financial Aid Consultant with Ferrilli Higher Education Consulting.

Steven’s skills include proficiency in the Ellucian Banner system, ensuring compliance with Title IV regulations, application processing, federal verification, state aid, scholarship processing, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Steven has earned NASFAA credentials in Verification, Cost of Attendance, Application Process, and Direct Loans.

He holds a Bachelor in Criminal Justice (2015), and a Master in Applied Social Science with a Concentration in Criminal Justice (2018) from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
