Information about the Reallocation Process, the 2025–26 Campus-Based Reallocation Form, and the Process to Request Supplemental Federal Work-Study Funds for 2026–27

The U.S. Department of Education has announced that the 2025–26 Campus-Based Reallocation Form is now available in the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System. Institutions that do not expect to fully utilize their Federal Work-Study (FWS) or Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) allocations must report those unused funds through the reallocation process. Eligible schools may also use the form to request supplemental Federal Work-Study funding for the 2026–27 award year.

Who Should Complete the Form?

Institutions should submit the Campus-Based Reallocation Form if they:

  • Do not expect to spend their full 2025–26 FWS or FSEOG allocation.
  • Want to request supplemental 2026–27 Federal Work-Study funds to support students employed in community service positions and have an FWS fair share shortfall.

Important Deadline

The Campus-Based Reallocation Form must be submitted electronically through the COD website by September 1, 2026. Institutions that miss the deadline may lose the opportunity to return unused funds or request supplemental FWS funding.

Why This Matters

The annual reallocation process helps ensure that unused Campus-Based funding is redistributed to institutions that can fully utilize it. Schools anticipating unused FWS or FSEOG funds should review their spending now and complete the required form by the deadline. Likewise, institutions with additional community service employment needs should evaluate whether they qualify to request supplemental Federal Work-Study funding.
