NACIQI Sets September Meeting to Review Accrediting Agencies

NACIQI September 2026 Meeting

The U.S. Department of Education has announced that the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) will meet on September 23 and 24, 2026. The meeting will focus on applications for renewal of recognition from six accrediting agencies and a compliance report from one agency.

NACIQI will review applications for renewal of recognition from the following accrediting agencies:

  • American Bar Association, Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar
  • Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools
  • Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine
  • American Psychological Association, Commission on Accreditation
  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
  • Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, Accreditation Commission

Of particular note, the American Psychological Association, Commission on Accreditation is requesting an expansion of its recognized scope to include the pre accreditation and accreditation of master’s programs in clinical, counseling, and school psychology, as well as combinations of these practice areas. The requested scope would also cover programs using distance education and traditional educational methods.

NACIQI will also review a compliance report from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.

Members of the public may register to attend the meeting virtually. Following registration, participants will receive a confirmation email containing personalized participation links no later than 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time on September 23, 2026.
